What is a Child Advocacy Centre?

A child advocacy centre aims to foster best practices in child abuse investigations and minimize stress and trauma faced by children who are victims of sexual or physical abuse.

A child advocacy centre provides a child-focused, coordinated multi-disciplinary response to child abuse. The multi-disciplinary team typically involves Police, Child and Family Services, Victim Services, medical services and other resources. Child advocacy centres vary in service structures and design and share a common goal of working together to achieve better service delivery and outcomes for child abuse victims and families.

All children have the right to freedom from violence, to be respected as unique and valuable human beings, and to have their voices heard.
