Minister MacKay was accompanied by Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages and Member of Parliament for Saint Boniface, Shelly Glover, as well as Provincial Minister of Justice, James Allum and Member of Parliament for Kildonan St. Paul, Joy Smith.

The announced funding was used to hire two child forensic interview specialists who are highly trained in obtaining statements from young victims in an unbiased and legally sound manner. Having these positions on-site at Snowflake Place as a part of a multidisciplinary team allows young victims to be interviewed in a safe family friendly environment that can greatly reduce the emotional and mental stress they experience as they progress through the criminal justice system.
