It’s an annual, family-friendly bicycling or walking event to raise money for charities across the country that work with those who are displaced, vulnerable and exploited. Sign up in support of Snowflake Place to raise awareness for child abuse in Manitoba and support child and youth victims and witnesses to violent crimes.
There are about 30 official Ride locations across Canada, but Teams can sign up to Ride or Walk Anywhere! Participants have the option of riding 10 km, 15 km, or 50 km or walking 5 km.
There are rest stations set up along the routes and a wonderful post-Ride lunch. The Ride for Refuge is a great way to get some exercise with friends and family and raise awareness about the impact of child abuse in our community, all while supporting the work of Snowflake Place!
The need for proper services for children, youth, and families affected by abuse in Manitoba is substantial. All the funds raised from Ride for Refuge will go to our new and very ambitious plan for our organization, which centers around the development of a first-class child advocacy centre that ensures all necessary services work together to wrap around children and families impacted by abuse.
We need strong, motivated Team Captains on board if we are to meet our fundraising goals, this is the perfect opportunity for you to champion this critical cause among your friends and family! As a Team Captain, your responsibilities would include recruiting a team (no limit on members), encouraging their fundraising, and perhaps organizing fundraising initiatives or events.
The Ride for Refuge is a not-for-profit event. Participants 10 and under are free. There is a registration fee of $40. However, if you fundraise a minimum of $150 ($75 for ages 11-17), the registration fee is waived.
Are you in for the challenge?!
